We've recently hired a new EZP staff member, Stuart Duncan. We've been extremely busy and haven't had a chance to do a proper introduction for him yet, that'll come in a future post. However, we at EZP wanted to show him our support in his campaign to bring greater Understanding and Acceptance of Autism today. Because today is a big day, it's autism awareness day and Stuart's campaign is to take this day and push it a couple steps further than before.

Read MoreI'm sure by now every Canadian has heard of the big ISP's trying to ram unfair Usage Based Billing (UBB) down our throats. It's not that I'm opposed to usage based billing, I actually think the concept is quite fair. The problem is, we don't have a truly open market up here in Canada, so the concept as it will be applied in reality is flawed. A few big companies get to set pricing to whatever they want because they know no one will compete on price.

However from here on out I will be making an effort to blog much more frequently. Promise. Really - I've setup some calendar alerts so I set aside some time to work on blogging. I'm also considering changing our blog layout here...anyways.

Read MoreAs we're not the most imaginative bunch here, coming up with ideas for blog posts is pretty tough. So we've decided to blog about stuff we've been doing to keep our clients up to date. So in the past couple of weeks here we've:
* Helped recover and secure a hacked server for a client with an outdated vbulletin vbseo install.
* Recovered and secured 2 hacked wordpress installs - again, just out of date software. Also installed W3 Total Cache for both clients.
There is an exploit out there right now and we had to spend quite a bit of time patching servers today (as a matter of fact, our night shift is finishing things off right now). We decided to move forward with our plan to rollout ksplice (http://ksplice.com), which allows us to patch/update kernels without reboots. We've been considering this upgrade for a while but this recent security issue made our minds up.
Reboots = downtime = loss of revenue for our clients.
